Elaine Stone Memorial Award

Elaine Stone helped organize the original volunteer fire fighting association in the East Highlands, and served for several years as firefighter, fund raiser and president. After her death in 1991, the Elaine Stone Memorial Award for community service was established. It is presented at the Fire Department's annual Christmas Banquet to a person chosen by members of the Highlands Fire Fighters Association. Since 1997, nominations were solicited not only from Association members but from Highlands councillors and Advisory Committees.
