The deadline for receipt of completed grant applications shall be the end of February each year for the year in which the grant is requested.


Application Guidelines:


  • Approval of all Grant requests shall be subject to the availability of sufficient funding within the District’s Annual Operating Budget.
  • Unless otherwise determined by a unanimous vote of Council, the maximum grant available for any purpose under Section 2 shall be the aggregate of the District’s latest Federal Government census multiplied by a per capital rate of $0.50.
  • Grants are generally intended for “not for profit” organizations which provide a direct benefit to the citizens of the District.
  • Organizations should rely on their own resources to continue their operations rather than continual on-going assistance from the District.
  • Grants are for one year only, and are for the year of the application only.
  • Applicants are encouraged to have their applications handed into the District by January 31 of each year, the absolute deadline is February 28.  
  • The District will advertise its Grant in Aid Program in January of each year.
  • Upon request, applicants will be afforded the opportunity to make a brief presentation to Council.
  • Council reserves the right to discontinue funding of any or all Grant in Aid to specific organization.
  • Applications approved or denied by Council shall be confirmed in writing to the organization by the District of Highlands.
