Parks and Recreation Services
Recreation programming for the District of Highlands is provided by
West Shore Parks and Recreation and offers a wide range of programs and facilities for everyone. Please visit their website for more information on programs or to register online.
West Shore Parks and Recreation (WSPRS) is governed by the West Shore Parks and Recreation Society Board of Directors made up of representatives from the five member municipalities including:
- District of Highlands
- City of Colwood
- City of Langford
- District of Methchosin
- Town of View Royal
A portion of municipal property taxes contribute to the operations of the WSPRS and the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre, Centennial Centre, and The Q Centre are jointly operated by members.

Partnership between Highlands, CRD, the Intermunicipal Advisory Committee on Disability Issues (IACDI) and West Shore Parks and Recreation revamped and created an 630-metre loop trail in the midst of evergreens and native shrubs at the Munn Road entrance to Mount Work Park.
