In accordance with Sections 224 and 227 of the Community Charter, the District of Highlands will consider Permissive Tax Exemption Bylaw No. 410, 2018 on:

DATE:      Monday, October 1, 2018 and Monday, October 15, 2018

TIME:    7:00 PM

The purpose of the proposed tax exemption bylaw is to exempt the organization listed below from taxes imposed under Section 197(1)(a) of the Community Charter for the year 2019 only.

1.    Non-Profit Organization Exemptions {Section 224(2)(a)} tax exemption table

The ‘Estimated Annual Value of the Permissive Tax Exemption’ is the estimated amount of the general municipal and fire tax that would be imposed on the property if it was not exempt.

Furthermore, Council will consider amending its Five Year Financial Plan Bylaw No. 405, 2018 by changing the current policy statement on Permissive Tax Exemptions to note that Council may consider Permissive Tax Exemptions that support environmental preservation in the community on a case by case basis.
